There are several different ways to cosmetically improve the appearance of your smile. One of the more common options people choose is to have dental veneers installed at Finesse Dental Care. These are thin, porcelain shells that are created in a professional dental lab to match the faces of each tooth that is visible in your smile.

The process starts with a careful examination of each tooth that is meant for a veneer. If one of your teeth has a previous filling, existing tooth decay, or thin tooth enamel, Dr. Steven Hever might recommend restoring it with a porcelain dental crown.

At the start of the restoration, your dentist will numb the area with Novocain before using a drill to remove all remaining tooth enamel. This leaves behind a small post called an abutment, which will eventually anchor the new crown. Then, your dentist will remove a section of the teeth needing the veneers. This will create room for the cosmetic restorations.

A detailed impression will then be made of the abutment as well as the teeth meant for the dental veneers. Then a temporary crown will be secured over the abutment. The impression will be sent to the dental lab where the porcelain crown and the dental veneers will be cast from dental-grade porcelain.

When they are ready, we will call you back in for a second appointment to install the porcelain crown and dental veneers.
