Global Outreach

Jamaica

We had to use a generator which we had to bring each day and fill with gas in the morning so it would power our equipment. The town of Mafootah, in Jamaica, is where we gave our time and services to help the indigenous, amazing people that live off the land and have no access to care. Many of these people had never seen a dentist before in their life. They would wait and form a line around the corner of the community center each morning, to receive their treatments. We had no xrays. We brought sterilizers that were powered by our generator. The water tank was mounted on the roof, as many third world countries do, so that there is running water to our equipment. The heat, humidity, mosquitoes, and poor lighting made it difficult to work. But it makes you appreciate home.
